[syper'vjɛl], Jules, französischer Schriftsteller, * Montevideo 16. 1. 1884, ✝ Paris 17. 5. 1960; war von Symbolismus und Surrealismus beeinflusst; seine fantasievoll-poetischen Vers- und Prosadichtungen spiegeln in melodisch-transparenter Sprache ein kosmisches Lebensgefühl.
 
Werke: Lyrik: Les poèmes de l'humour triste (1919); Débarcadères (1922); Gravitations (1925); Oublieuse mémoire (1949); L'escalier (1956); Le corps tragique (1959).
 
Roman: Le voleur d'enfants (1926; deutsch Der Kinderdieb).
